The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs fans witnessed something unforgettable and shocking at PNC Park. A fan reportedly fell from the stands and dropped to the warning track while the game was on.
The game was stopped as medics rushed to the scene to take him off with a stretcher. The fan fell from the 21-foot-high stands and lay unconscious on the ground. Although he was rushed to the hospital, it was a traumatizing moment for all those who witnessed it. Some fans thought that he jumped off on purpose. However, a recent report reveals new alarming details.
It turns out that the fan was drunk, and he jumped up when the Pirates recorded a hit. Another fan said that he literally propelled himself off the ledge.
“I was sitting five rows behind him. He was drunk. The inning before, he ripped his shirt off and poured half a beer all over himself. Jumped up from his seat when the Pirates got the hit, and he jumped up so quickly. While being drunk, he literally propelled himself off the ledge.”
MLB Players Share Concern And Support After Scary Fall By Pirates Fan

The game was stopped for nearly 10 minutes after the fan dropped to the ground. When he’s admitted to the hospital, it’s clear that he’s in critical condition. MLB stars and managers were concerned about the fan.
“I’m thinking about his family and him right now. Obviously scary. I didn’t see it happen, but I saw it out there after the play. I just hope everything turns out OK,” Cubs manager Craig Counsell said via the BBC.
“Truly hate what happened tonight. Can’t help but think about that guy, his family and friends. I pray tonight for him. Let us think about his loved ones and hug our families a little tighter tonight. I hope he pulls through,” Pirates star Andrew McCutchen said.
