A fan at Wednesday night’s Chicago Cubs–Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park was injured after falling over the 21-foot Clemente Wall in right field and onto the playing surface.
The Pirates topped the Cubs, 4-3, in the regular season game, but the least of worries on everybody’s mind.
The fan tumbled over the railing and onto the field while Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double to give the Pirates the lead.
Footage shows the fan either getting too excited and tumbling over or purposely jumping up and losing his balance as he made his way down head-first to the field.
Pittsburgh EMS, along with members of the Pirates and Cubs training staffs, tended to him.
Following the game, the Pittsburgh Pirates released a statement on social media.
“Tonight, during the seventh inning of the game at PNC Park, an adult male fell from the right field bleachers onto the field of play,” they said in part.
“Pittsburgh EMS, as well as the Pirates and Cubs athletic training teams and other PNC Park personnel reacted and responded immediately and administered care,” the statement from the Pirates read.
“He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital. No further information is available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.”

Right after Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run double in the seventh inning to put the Pirates ahead 4-3, players began waving frantically for medical personnel and pointing to the man, who had fallen onto the warning track.
Members of the Pirates and Cubs training staff and PNC personnel tended to the fan before he was removed from the field on a cart.
The team issued a statement shortly after the game ended, saying the man was transported to Allegheny General Hospital. No further details were given.
