Tia Jones, Xavier Worthy’s ex-fiancee, says she filed for and received a temporary protective order against the Kansas City Chiefs receiver after he was initially arrested but released and not charged with any crimes against her.
While criminal charges could possibly come later, a protective order has been granted against the Chiefs wide receiver as investigations continue.
Jones’s attorneys announced Wednesday via Cory Mose of KVUE that she has obtained a temporary protective order against the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver.
Worthy, arrested on March 7 in Texas on allegations of assault involving a family or household member, was held in jail before being released.
Attorneys representing Tia Jones have emphasized that she is fully cooperating with authorities as the investigation unfolds against Xavier Worthy.
Jones released a statement:
“Today, Tia Jones filed an application for a protective order against Xavier Worthy, based [on] his violent actions against her culminating on the night of March 7, 2025,” the statement explains. “Based upon the truthful information provided by Ms. Jones, a judge has granted a temporary protective order on her behalf. She is fully cooperating with law enforcement as they continue to actively investigate the violence that occurred that night.
“Ms. Jones has chosen to use her voice to speak up for herself. In so doing, she looks forward to the facts and circumstances of that night coming to light through the formal legal process and getting the justice that she deserves. She appreciates the support that she has received thus far.”
Worthy’s attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, would soon also speak out:
“We are aware of the civil court (not criminal court) filing by Ms. Jones and her criminal defense team,” they said in a release issued to PFT. “Mr. Worthy denies each of the allegations by Ms. Jones. Unfortunately, false allegations continue to be made, this time in civil court. Today the accuser returned items stolen from Mr. Worthy’s residence while he was in jail and there are items still missing from when he was incarcerated. Mr. Worthy maintains his innocence and stands by the conclusions of the District Attorney after law enforcement’s review of Ms. Jones’ unfounded allegations.”
Shawn Dick, the Williamson County DA, made it clear that his office would not accept the case involving Worthy and Jones following interviews with multiple witnesses to the alleged incident.
Will Xavier Worthy Face An NFL Suspension?

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested in Georgetown, Texas, earlier this month and originally faced a third-degree felony charge of assault against a family or member of a household that includes impeding breathing or circulation.
However, he would soon be released as a district attorney declined to press charges at the time.
If the charge against Worthy had been pursued, it could have amounted to a third-degree felony, and a conviction possibly could’ve landed him in prison for 10 years.
Since he has seemingly escaped this outcome, what does it mean for his career going forward?
The NFL will investigate, especially since the Personal Conduct Policy has a baseline punishment of a six-game suspension for assault.
It remains to be seen if Worthy will have to sit out some games.
