Fresh details have surfaced following the arrest of Johnny Manziel’s mother, Michelle Manziel, over the weekend.
Mommy Football was taken into police custody after she was caught driving while intoxicated in Kerrville, Texas, on Saturday night. According to reports, Michelle was stopped around 10:00 p.m. on March 1 after police saw her driving with a broken tail light.
TMZ sources say she showed signs of being inebriated, with her eyes bloodshot and glassy, while she struggled to maintain her balance.
“They also claim Manziel’s mother had a strong odor of booze emanating from her breath,” the outlet added.
TMZ has since cited a police source who told them Michelle refused to take a breathalyzer and failed a field sobriety test.“We’re told Michelle refused to take an intoxilyzer test … and when authorities administered the horizontal gaze nystagmus check, she showed six clues of inebriation,” TMZ relayed this Friday.
Michelle Manziel Has Been Released On Bail
Her lawyer told the publication they would not be making any sort of comment on the arrest.
Johnny hasn’t commented on the matter either but was recently seen laughing with Mike Evans at a Texas A&M men’s basketball game.
The former Aggies star has had his own struggles with substance abuse, having previously confessed to frequent cocaine use during a period of depression that followed the abrupt end to his NFL career. Johnny also revealed he tried taking his own life back then. He has since cleaned up his act.
