The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly emerging as a front-runner to land superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs in free agency.
The 31-year-old Stefon Diggs is just one of many big-named receivers on the free agent market, along with the likes of Chris Godwin, Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins, Davante Adams and Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown.
Kansas City will surely be in the market for extra WR help with Hopkins, Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman all pending free agents. Given their status as an annual Super Bowl favorite, the Chiefs might be able to land a big-named offensive weapon at a discounted price, too.
According to a report from the ML Football X/Twitter account, several league executives believe that the defending AFC champions could sign Diggs in free agency.
Stefon Diggs was a top-five receiver over his four seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2020 to 2023), posting over 100 catches and more than 1,000 yards each year. He racked up 37 touchdowns in that period and helped Buffalo to four straight AFC East division crowns and an AFC Championship Game appearance in 2020.Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans last year after his relationship with Bills coaches and teammates soured. He had 47 catches for 496 yards and three touchdowns in seven games before suffering a season-ending injury.
Stefon Diggs & Chiefs Are A Perfect Match
With Diggs about to enter his age-32 season, the chance to compete for a Super Bowl should be his priority over money. Assuming that’s the case, there’s no better fit for him than a team that’s played in five of the last six Super Bowls, with three Lombardi Trophies in that period.
Diggs would join a KC offense led by Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Isiah Pacheco. That core would make KC the team to beat once again heading into 2025.
