Former Georgia running back James Cook wants to get paid and is willing to do anything to get his point across.
The NFL season officially came to a close earlier this week as the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl and now all eyes will shift to free agency and players under contract demanding a bigger deal.
One current Buffalo Bills player is seeking both an extension and a significant pay raise before the 2025 season starts.
Running back James Cook had a tremendous year in 2024. He tied for the NFL lead with 16 rushing touchdowns, and his 4.9 yards per carry average ranked fifth among all running backs with at least 200 carries.
Now, he wants his money. In order to get his point across, Cook has not only unfollowed the Buffalo Bills on Instagram but also removed all Bills-related material from his page.
Cook is only 25 and has cracked the Pro Bowl twice in three NFL seasons.
James Cook Demanding $15 Million Per Year
James Cook has set his asking price.
The Bills running back is eligible for an extension ahead of what would be the final season of his rookie contract.
During an Instagram Live session Wednesday, Cook reportedly pinned his own comment that read, “15 mill year.”
Should he get that much, he would jump over players like Colts’ Jonathan Taylor, Eagles’ Saquon Barkley, Saints’ Alvin Kamara, and Packers’ Josh Jacobs.
The problem with James Cook receiving this type of upgrade in salary is the league-wide trend over most of the past decade that has moved away from paying running backs, who have been seen as often interchangeable and quickly declining.
