Travis Kelce has confirmed that his new television show ‘Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?’ will launch on October 16.
The Kansas City Chiefs star gave fans a first look at his new show – a spinoff of ‘Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?’ in an announcement on social media on Thursday.
The show, filmed in Los Angeles during the football offseason, will be broadcast will on Amazon Prime and the Oct. 16 start date falls around Kelce’s NFL bye week with the Chiefs.
The premiere week starts with three episodes dropping and will be followed by one new episode each week. The overall series will feature 20 episodes, all hosted by the three-time Super Bowl winner.
Speaking back in April about the show, Kelce said: ‘I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are you Smarter than a Celebrity?
The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining.
‘I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.’
An array of stars have taken part in the first series of the new Kelce show, including comedians Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer and Ron Funches, NFL analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick and former NFL wide receiver Chad Ochocinco.
In the meantime though, Kelce is gearing up for the start of the new NFL season – it is less than a month until Kansas City Chiefs start their new campaign with a blockbuster showdown against Baltimore Ravens on Sep. 5 at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Chiefs tight end is currently in training camp while his girlfriend Taylor Swift is on tour in Europe. Her shows in Austria this week were canceled after police foiled a planned terrorist attack.
Kelce and Chiefs are lining up an historic shot at an unprecedented Super Bowl ‘three-peat’ this season and his girlfriend Swift is anticipated to be cheering him on from the stands as much as possible.
It was reported earlier this week that Kelce has even upgraded his kitchen at his $6million mansion in Kansas City in preparation for Swift – a keen cook – spending more time there in the coming months.
The Chiefs also play the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night in a practice game ahead of the new season and head coach Andy Reid surprisingly hinted that Kelce and Patrick Mahomes could feature in the game for as much as a quarter.
Teams usually opt against fielding star players in warmup games to avoid them getting hurt before the season properly begins but Reid has said before that he feels it helps players start the season in better form.
