The New York Jets franchise has been one of the biggest headlines in the NFL these past few weeks. After firing head coach Robert Saleh following offensive struggles, the team traded for former Raiders and Packers star receiver Davante Adams to reunite him with Aaron Rodgers
Saleh was one of the best defensive-minded head coaches in the NFL, and while his record may not have shown, the Jets’ defensive prowess to begin the 2024 season certainly did, as they ranked near the top of almost every defensive statistic through five games.
The firing doesn’t seem to be getting to the former Jets bench boss, as he looks as though he’s in high spirits following his departure from the franchise. Saleh was spotted leaving a grocery store and was asked a few questions by a reporter.
In the video, Saleh is asked how he is doing after all that has transpired, to which he responds, “living the dream.” He was also reminded that Mannings and legendary head coach Bill Belichick offered support for him, but he had no response.
Robert Saleh Was Oddly Quiet During Public Outing
Before entering his vehicle, the reporter had one last question for the free-agent head coach: “Can we see you on a sideline soon? ” Saleh responded, “Definitely,” which could excite some teams in need of defensive coaching.
Saleh was hired by the Jets in 2021 and finished his tenure with the team with a 20-36 record; however, this doesn’t tell the whole story. The Jets ranked in the top five of total defensive yards in 2022, 2023, and 2024, respectively, until his firing after week five.
While Saleh may no longer be coaching the Jets, they will still be must-watch TV as Devante Adams is slated to make his New York Jets debut in week seven when the Jets take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
