High school quarterback Kyren Eleby is going viral online this weekend.
The 285-pound signal-caller is the biggest HS QB in the country and has been terrorizing defenses with his large frame as opposing players have to think twice about tackling him. He’s pretty good at throwing the football, too.
The Class of 2026 recruit is built like an offensive lineman, standing at 6ft, 2in, and nearing 300 pounds, and he moves like a freight train, bulldozing defenders while also adept at hurting them through the air.

Eleby, who attends St. Louis University high school, spoke about his high school career in a wholesome interview in which he revealed putting on most of his weight during the COVID-19 pandemic.Teachers did not believe Kyren was a quarterback at first but are now gushing over the 285LB star who can hurt defenses in different ways. While he does plenty of damage on the ground as a runner, he is also a massive threat with his deep passing.
“I’ve been playing quarterback since I was five,” he explained in the video shown below. “When COVID hit, that’s when I put on a lot of weight, but I still stuck with it.”
“He’s a big fella, but he’s a big fella he could move,” St. Louis University high school head coach Adam Cruz added. “ We’re glad he’s on our side.”
“The teachers didn’t believe me when they heard I play quarterback, but then they saw me on the field…”@SLUHfootball‘s Kyren Eleby may not look like a typical HS quarterback at 6-foot-2, 285 pounds… but don’t underestimate him. And good luck tackling him.@CoachAdamCruz1 pic.twitter.com/uUDhAXgJrf

Kyren Eleby Comes From An Athletic Family
Kyren Eleby comes from a football family, as he explained in the clip above.
His brother, Kaleb, starred as a QB at Western Michigan before the Seattle Seahawks signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent the 2023 season with Houston Rednecks in the XFL and joined the CFL’s Edmonton Elks this February. The team released him in May.
Quarterbacks of Kyren’s size rarely get to remain in the backfield as they are usually made to switch positions, but it appears he has a chance of going into college as a QB.
