Additional footage from Tyreek Hill’s detainment on Sunday morning shows one of the police officers involved threatening to break the Miami Dolphins star’s window.
Hill made headlines ahead of Miami’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the day when he was stopped for a traffic violation before being removed from his vehicle, forced to the ground, and handcuffed.
He was subsequently released and went on to play in the Fins’ 20-17 win, registering seven catches for 130 receiving yards and one touchdown.
NBC6 posted a video tonight showing the moment an officer knocked on his window and asked him to get out of the car. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear another officer approaching him and threatening to break the window.
Check it out below:“is it all because he is black? Imagine if he wasn’t Tyreek Hill. These cops should all be let go… no business treating innocent people this way!” one user wrote.
“MDPD’s constant abuse of power has created a climate where civilians fear the police more than the criminals. The very people meant to protect and serve now instill more anxiety in the community than the threats they are supposed to prevent,” another declared.
“Dude he got to Accent like he barely learned English 😂 how did he become a cop,” someone joked.
The Miami-Dade Police Have Opened An Investigation Into Tyreek Hill’s Ordeal
One of the officers involved in Hill’s detainment has been placed on Administrative leave amid an internal affairs investigation.
“That should tell you all you need to know,” the wideout told reporters after being quizzed on the development.
Of course, this isn’t going away anytime soon, with several members of the media pointing to the difference in the way Scottie Scheffler was treated by police when he was stopped for a traffic offense while trying to get to the PGA Championship earlier this year.
