Fans loving new Apple iPhone emojis feature but there’s one main concern

The new iPhone feature may get those creative juices flowing

It’s a big day for tech lovers as Apple has just held its annual event to unveil new devices and fancy features.

Alongside the Apple Watch Series 10 and its ability to pick up on a sleep condition, the tech giant finally launched the iPhone 16 at ‘It’s Glowtime’ in California today (9 September).

Coming in brand new colours, the phone has new features including a new emoji function. But while people are loving this, there is one main concern.

So, using ‘Apple Intelligence’ which the iPhone 16 has been designed for ‘from the ground up’, users will be able to create their own emojis.

Apple explains: “Emoji will be taken to an entirely new level with the ability to create original Genmoji by simply typing a description, or by selecting a photo of a friend or family member.”

This means iPhone users will be able to ‘express themselves’ exactly how they want to using emoji.

And a lot of people are already excited to get using this new feature as one wrote on X: “Creating new emoji just by typing them out?! I am SOLD!”

Many said it’s also their ‘favourite feature’ from today’s announcement as another echoed: “Definitely, as an emoji enthusiast, I’m excited about this new feature on the iPhone! I hope it will be available for iOS 18, not just for the iPhone 16.”

Plenty were impressed by this ‘crazy’ feature but some more sarcastic people wrote: “I totally can’t see this going wrong,” and, “surely this will end well.”

While one happily just went straight to the point with their prediction: “This OBVIOUSLY won’t end well.”

There is the concern that the personalised emoji feature may get too ‘offensive’ as some users said: “You already know people gonna be creating crazy s**t.”

With another adding: “People are about to get real creative.”

And people are already using the likes of the existing peach and aubergine emojis to hint at the kind of things they’ll be attempting to make.

The new iPhone will also feature a special Camera Control button, spatial photos, aersospace-grade aluminium and Apple CEO Tim Cook promises it ‘raises the bar for what an iPhone can do’.
