The McDonald’s jackpot prizes are pretty hard to come by
Over the years, McDonald’s Monopoly has become somewhat of a stalwart of British culture.
The annual promotion offers customers the chance to win a whole range of prizes from a free cheeseburger to a whopping £100k in cold hard cash.
But, while instant prizes – often items from the Maccies menu – come thick and fast, the illusive Monopoly properties leading to a jackpot prize are a lot harder to get your hands on.
With the competition returning to UK restaurants today (4 September), it begs the question, what does it actually take to win big? One lad decided to test it for himself.

Last year, Josh Ryan – who started a McDonald’s Monopoly series on TikTok – splashed out nearly £65 on 25 portions of large fries in return for 50 Monopoly stickers.
In a video uploaded to the platform, he wrote: “Buying 25 large fries to see how much I can win! Can’t believe how much I won!!”
Josh was off to a pretty decent start when he peeled off a 40 percent discount code for Skull Candy headphones from the first portion of fries.
His second prize also came from his second portion, winning a ‘personalised photo magnet’.
And the third sticker was yet another prize, with a 10 percent discount code for AO.com.

But, it was the small instant prizes that were most frequent among Josh’s haul with the content creator bagging multiple free McFlurry’s or fruit bags, six McNuggets, a bacon roll and a hot drink of his choice.
Sadly, the coveted £100k just wasn’t meant to be, but the TikToker wasn’t too disappointed.
“Fries is where it’s at,” he insisted.
Yet, his plight for McDonald’s Monopoly glory wasn’t over just yet.
In another video, Josh teamed up with a fellow TikToker to see what could be won by spending even more money at the fast food restaurant.
The caption read: “This is part three of spending money on McDonalds Monopoly to see what we win and today I spent £75, money’s going up.”
His co-host joked: “Now, we should win £100k no?”
But his luck was arguably even worse on his second attempt, with the pair only bagging two McFlurry or fruit bags (again), one apple pie or fruit bag and one small fries or veggie bag, although why you’d ever pick veggies over fries is beyond me.
The iconic game officially returned to the UK today (4 September) and is set to run until 15 October.
How to increase your chances of winning big on McDonald’s Monopoly as it returns for 2024
The McDonald’s game loved by millions is back once again
McDonald’s Monopoly is back and with it, your chance to win up to £100,000 from your Maccies meal of choice.
The popular game has been a surefire hit for McDonald’s for decades, having first been brought out in the United States back in 1987.
It returns to the UK today (4 September) and will be running until 15 October, meaning you will have six weeks to win the biggest and best prizes up for grabs.
For those who have been living under a rock, the popular game works incredibly similarly to the classic Monopoly board game that’s left us all falling out with our nearest and dearest at some point or another over the years.
Like with the board game, the Maccies version requires you to collect property sets in order to win big. The train stations are also included.
To see what properties you’ve got your hands on, you peel off the stickers on the back of McDonald’s products that make the cut. Not everything is included but the big players are such as fries, drinks and chicken wraps.
With a top prize of £100k up for grabs, the stickers relating to those properties are obviously going to be the rarest.
There’s also instant wins, which will give you freebies from Maccies such as an apple pie or cheeseburger. A win’s a win, we’ll take it.

Where can McDonald’s Monopoly stickers be found?
McDonald’s has confirmed that you can find its Monopoly stickers on fries (medium and large, not small) as well as chicken selects (both three and five boxes).
They’re also found on all cold drinks in a Maccies cup; the Chicken Big Mac; large salad; McPlant; McSpicy; mozzarella dipper bag; McFlurry; wraps; Philly Cheese Stack; and the cheese sharebox.

More chances to win McDonald’s Monopoly
You can expand your chances to win by using your stickers on the McDonald’s app.
By inputting the code on the sticker from your physical food packaging, you are given an extra ‘bonus peel’ to keep on winning.
You can also scan in your physical stickers so everything is kept in one place with no threat of losing any of the rarer ones.
And while it might be frowned upon, not everyone plays the Monopoly game. And they also don’t dispose of their rubbish, so there’s no harm in checking the unpeeled stickers left on a nearby table. The act is called ‘wombling’, apparently, which people do when collecting physical loyalty points or rewards from disregarded shopping.
Avoiding Big Macs will also be on the agenda, with the iconic burger historically having no stickers except for the chicken version. The same goes for McNuggets.
