REPORT: Baker Mayfield Files $12 Million Lawsuit Against His Own Father’s Company

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has enough to deal with on the field, but now he is embroiled in an ongoing legal dispute with his family.

Last week, Mayfield’s legal team filed a lawsuit claiming Camwood Capital Management Group, owned by his father, James W. Mayfield, violated a settlement agreement.

Mayfield, the former No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, filed a $12 million lawsuit which outlines a repayment plan for the money.

His brother Matt also has a stake in the company.

WFLA reports that Baker Mayfield’s wife, Emily, and the couple’s company, Team BRM, LLC, are also listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit centers around a “confidential settlement and release agreement” that was finalized in January 2024. “To date, Camwood Capital has not repaid even one dollar under the Settlement Agreement,” the legal filing states.

In total, Baker Mayfield is seeking “no less than” $11.74 million, plus interest, attorney fees, and additional relief.

Baker Mayfield completed 24 of his 30 passes for 294 yards and added four carries for 29 yards and a touchdown in a 30-7 win over the Giants in Week 12.

Although he was unable to throw for any touchdowns and also fumbled twice, his team did just enough to defeat the New York Giants.

Mayfield has struggled a bit over the past two games, as he threw for just one touchdown over that span.

With Mike Evans back in the lineup, things should get a bit better going forward.

Baker Mayfield Has The Tampa Bay Bucs In The Mix Despite Working With Less

Baker Mayfield, somehow, has the Tampa Bay Bucs still in the mix to get into the playoffs despite working with less for much of the season.

Standout wideout Mike Evans just returned to the field from injury after being gone for a month.

Not to mention, Chris Godwin has been lost for the year since last month.

Even still, Baker Mayfield’s team is in second place in the NFC South with a 5-6 record.

Despite the under .500 record, the Bucs are just one game out from surpassing the Falcons.

Through 11 games this season, Baker Mayfield has 2,799 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
