Horrifying New Video Shows Exactly What Caused Pittsburgh Pirates Fan Kavan Markwood To Fall 21-Feet Over The Outfield Wall

Despite everything he is currently going through, Kavan Markwood is a lucky man.

Markwood is the fan who fell over the right-field wall and onto the field at the Pittsburgh Pirates’ PNC Park last Wednesday night. Markwood, a 20-year-old former college football player, was identified as the man who fell more than 20 feet onto the right field warning track.

It was a scary scene when Markwood flipped over the wall’s railing and fell onto the field in a game between the Pirates and Chicago Cubs. It was particularly frightening that he lay motionless the entire time.

Play stopped immediately as medical staff sprinted to the outfield to find a shirtless Markwood on the warning track dirt with blood visible on his face.

By now, everyone has seen the original video of Kavan Markwood falling from the stands.

Now, newly released footage from CBS shows an even clearer view of what happened. This view comes from a Pirates fan seated directly behind him.

The video, taken from behind Markwood, shows him sitting in his seat in the right field and then appearing to jump up from his seat in excitement.

Momentum was not on his side as his legs clipped the railing directly in front of his seat, sending him tumbling 21 feet onto the field below.

His accident happened as he appeared to celebrate an RBI double from the Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen in the bottom of the seventh inning of their game against the Cubs.

The organizer of his GoFundMe, Jennifer Phillips, wrote an update on his condition on Monday.

“He still has a long way to go – he’s dealing with a broken neck, clavicle, and back, so there are plenty of obstacles ahead,” she revealed.
