The Dallas Cowboys may end up having to trade All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons, according to a report.
Micah Parsons is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie contract and has been eligible for an extension since last year. The No. 12 pick of the 2021 NFL Draft has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons, leading Dallas to two NFC East division crowns and three playoff appearances.
According to a report from Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz, some around the league are skeptical about owner Jerry Jones giving his star defensive player “a record-breaking contract,” with a trade also “a possibility.”
As Schultz pointed out, the market for elite pass rushers is skyrocketing to $40 million annually. On Sunday, Cleveland Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett agreed to a four-year, $160 million extension just weeks after publicly requesting a trade.
It’s extremely rare for superstar pass rushers of Micah Parsons’ caliber to get traded while in their prime. The Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders got a package headlined by two first-round picks from the Chicago Bears for Khalil Mack in 2018.
Last year, the Carolina Panthers sold low on Brian Burns and gave him up to the New York Giants for second and fifth-round picks.
Cowboys Need To Keep Micah Parsons

At the end of the day, the Cowboys’ best bet is to keep Micah Parsons and pay the franchise star what he’s worth. With 52.5 sacks in just 63 career games, Parsons is already on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
