United States President Donald Trump made a young kid’s year on Tuesday night, making him an honorary member of the U.S. Secret Service.
Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old who dreamed of becoming a police officer, was given months to live several years ago. The young cancer survivor, who was dressed in a police uniform, was shocked when Trump announced him as the newest addition to the Secret Service.
“Joining us in the gallery tonight is a young man who truly loves our police,” Trump said.
“The doctors gave him five months at most to live. That was more than six years ago. Since that time, DJ and his dad have been on a quest to make his dream come true.
“And tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all. I am asking our new Secret Service director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States.”
The youngster had already been sworn in as an honorary officer at police departments around the country.
Daniel was unable to hide his surprise before his father picked him up and held him in the air as the crowd cheered. The teenager proudly raised his certificate as the cheers continued.
