CELEBRITY“I’m just happy there’s hope for my dead career”- Madonna says amid tears as her Smash Hit Returns To The Charts For The First Time In 35 Years

Madonna has enjoyed a long and fruitful career all around the world. She’s produced singles that have stood the test of time and are still beloved to this day, which is no easy feat in the pop genre. Some of her biggest wins remain immensely popular in some of the largest music markets, and one of them manages an incredible comeback this week.

“Like a Prayer” reappears on the U.K. songs chart this week. The tune blasts back onto the list of the most-consumed tracks in the country at No. 95. The roster only features 100 spaces, so Madonna’s hit almost didn’t make it onto the tally at all.

The single has been surging in popularity lately after it was featured in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine. The film makes fun use of “Like a Prayer,” and audiences have responded by returning to the tune.

Deadpool & Wolverine has turned out to be a massive hit at the box office all around the world. The movie recently passed the $1 billion threshold after just a few weeks in theaters. Its massive popularity has led to an increase in both streams and sales of Madonna’s smash, which both impact where a track lands on the U.K. songs chart–or if it appears at all.

“Like a Prayer” has not been seen on the U.K. songs tally for decades. The last time it appeared on the 100-space list of the most popular cuts in the nation was in June 1989. The tune slipped to No. 80 that season, and then disappeared…seemingly for good—until now.

Madonna scored an early and giant chart hit with “Like a Prayer” back in 1989. The single debuted on the U.K. songs chart at No. 2, immediately making it a huge win for her. The following frame, it rose to No. 1, where it held for three consecutive turns.

“Like a Prayer” ranks as one of Madonna’s lucky 13 No. 1 smashes in the U.K. She’s also landed an incredible 64 placements inside the top 10 throughout her career.
