Well-known Barstool Sports podcaster Dan “Big Cat” Katz has been going through social media hell in 2025.
As long as he has been in the spotlight, he has been known for his undying love for the Chicago Bears.
Unfortunately, despite how he had carried himself, he most certainly did not grow up as a fan of the Bears. Katz decided to come clean for the many folks who had no clue that he was not from or born in Chicago.
Katz said in part: “I don’t know why I’ve been ashamed of this for a long time…I think a lot of people know, originally from Newton, Mass, I was born there.”
To make things even worse, an old picture of Big Cat would surface showing him wearing New England Patriots gear.
“He should have to resign, this is a disgusting betrayal to the AWL’s I delete all episodes and will not be redownloading,” another fan added.
“Yea Big Cat is a fake Bears fan idk why that was the team he chose,” a third fan added.
“That doesn’t look like an Urlacher jersey. 🐻 @BarstoolBigCat,” one fan said while tagging him.
One final fan had a lot to add: “He grew up in Boston & Moved to Chicago after college, and became a fan of the teams in his new town. Happens all the time. (Not me personally) but anyone who abandoned prime Pats/ bruins/celtics/redsox to root for Chicago honestly has to earn some respect in my book lol.”
Barstool Big Cat Explains Why He Lied About Being From Chicago
Barstool Sports’ Big Cat is not from Chicago and did not grow up a fan of the Bears.
That has been the most shocking news of the month as fans continue to criticize the popular podcast host.
Being a Chicago sports fan is a big part of Katz’s persona, so he is finally speaking out on why he lied.
He explained his background, how he moved to Chicago in 2007, and how he has family from Chicago who live in Highland Park.
He stated that Chicago was always his second team because his dead uncle had season tickets to the Bulls and Bears.
“I took a weird path to get here.”
