Bodycam Shows Bizarre Post-Arrest Behavior of Teen Who Killed Boyfriend by Intentionally Driving 100 mph into Wall

New bodycam footage shows the surprising behavior of an Ohio teen convicted of intentionally crashing her car into a wall at 100 mph and killing two at the moment of her arrest.

In the early morning hours of July 31, 2022, Mackenzie Shirilla, then 17, was captured on surveillance footage driving in Strongsville at 100 mph before crashing her 2018 Toyota Camry into a brick building.

Shirilla, who had marijuana and THC in her system and was supposedly fighting with her boyfriend, became “literal hell on wheels” when she turned down one particular road in a corporate park, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Nancy Margaret Russo said when the teen was convicted in 2023.

As PEOPLE previously reported, the crash killed her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, 20 (no relation to Judge Russo), who was riding in the passenger seat, and a friend of theirs, Davion Flanagan, who was sitting in the back. They were found dead at the scene.

Trapped inside the car with the others, Shirilla was unconscious and not breathing, 3News reported.

Convicted of all 12 charges she faced, including murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, felonious assault and drug possession, Shirilla was sentenced to life in prison in August 2023. She will be eligible for parole after serving 15 years.

Now, her dramatic arrest can be seen on bodycam footage released by the Strongsville Police Department.

In the video, Shirilla can be seen sitting in the back of a police SUV wearing a tank top and a jacket pulled down across her back.

“Hi Mackenzie,” says an officer who introduces himself and tells her he is investigating the deadly incident.

“You’re under arrest for aggravated murder x 2, okay?” he says as she looks at him in shock.

“Do you have any questions?” he asks. “Nobody is going to bother you.”

As he is about to swap the handcuffs she is wearing for another pair, she holds back tears as she pleads, “Could you please be careful taking this one off so it doesn’t break the bracelet please?”

He replies, “You got it. You got it.”

“Thank you,” she says.

When she gets inside the car, she looks directly at an interior camera, and then leans over and tries to go to sleep.

After the shocking crash, authorities learned that the three had allegedly been smoking marijuana at a friend’s home before Shirilla got behind the wheel, Cleveland.com reported. Shirilla reportedly had THC in her system that exceeded the legal limit in Ohio.

Shirilla’s fuzzy Prada slipper was stuck to the gas pedal, according to Cleveland.com.

“The intent was obvious upon seeing that video that there was only one goal, and the computer demonstrated that there was no attempt to slow down or stop — that it was full speed into a building and tragically it cost two people their lives,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said after the verdict, 3News reported.

Prosecutors maintained that Shirilla wanted to end her turbulent relationship with Russo, 3 News reported.

“There is no doubt that this happened because of the relationship with Dominic and the defendant’s intent was clearly to end that, and she took everybody that was in the car with her,” O’Malley said.
