Football fans are losing their minds after Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette showed off a squirrel that he caught and skinned…before revealing his plans with the poor rodent.
Fans who’ve followed Xavier Legette know that he has a unique diet that sounds gross to the average person. He has previously discussed his love for eating raccoons, squirrels and even rabbits.
If you thought Legette was kidding, well, you have no choice but to believe him now. That’s because in a recent Instagram story, Legette shared a video of himself with a squirrel that he somehow caught AND skinned.
Legette then revealed his plans to actually cook and eat the dead squirrel for dinner:
As you would expect, folks had all sorts of interesting reactions to Xavier Legette’s video that has quickly gone viral:
“bro what 😭,” asked one fan.
“That squirrel’s family is probably watching all this unfold too,” remarked another.
“What did that squirrel do to him,” inquired a fan.
“I’m convinced this dude can make more money doing vlogs than playing football 🤣,” another suggested.
“Let him eat,” a fan wrote.
“Wtf? He should be suspended,” joked another.
“i just did not need to know this,” quipped a fan.
“Bro is rich now… he don’t have to live like this 😭,” remarked another.
The Panthers traded up via the Buffalo Bills to select Legette with the No. 32 selection. GM Dan Morgan had also traded for Diontae Johnson and used additional picks on Texas RB Jonathan Brooks and Longhorns tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders, looking to bolster the offense around Bryce Young.
Xavier Legette had an inconsistent rookie season, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns. in 16 games. His best game came against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 29, with Legette catching six passes for 66 yards and one touchdown.
Panthers Need More From Xavier Legette In 2025
Carolina quarterback Bryce Young broke the “bust” label for the time being with an excellent second-half performance after regaining the starting job. That said, Young will only improve so much if the weapons around him can’t take that next step further.
It’s not ideal for Carolina if a 35-year-old Adam Thielen is their best WR in 2025, so they’ll need Legette to improve after a frustrating rookie year.
