Blake Lively responded to her friend Taylor Swift cancelling concerts in Vienna due to a thwarted terrorist plot.
The 36-year-old actress — who is currently feuding with her It Ends With Us costar — expressed gratitude that the alarming situation was being managed safely.
‘Oh, my gosh. I mean, how terrifying,’ she told Access Hollywood. ‘But thank goodness that they are completely on top of that.’
The Gossip Girl alum’s concern for her pop superstar friend is evident, as their close bond dates back to 2015. Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds are frequently spotted spending time with Taylor, who has even featured their children in her music.
Blake’s remarks come after Taylor surprised fans in Vienna by offering a consolation gift after having to cancel three shows in the Austrian capital.
The superstar partnered with Disney+ to give her international Swifties a chance to watch her record-breaking Eras Tour concert film for free during a special television premiere, per People.
The streaming giant teamed up with cable station ORF to broadcast Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) in Austria on Saturday.
Additionally, Disney+ is providing a limited-time, seven-day free trial of its Premium service for Swifties eager to stream the movie starting August 10.
The goodwill gesture follows news that Vienna fans had received free crystal necklaces from Swarovski after the heartbreaking cancellation of Taylor’s shows.
The Vienna Tourist Board had taken to social media to share ways that fans, who flew in from all around the globe to see Swift, could enjoy their time in the city.
One suggestion was to receive a ‘crystal surprise’ from the Kristallwelten Swarovski store.
After making the announcement, X users confirmed, that in exchange for showing their ticket to one of the canceled shows, they were given a necklace.
‘Swarovski are giving away necklaces to Vienna Swifties,’ one fan posted via X on August 8. ‘You just have to show your ticket.’
The necklaces featured a large crystal set on a gray leather string.
Some of the pieces were colorful circle pendants while others featured clear blue stones.
Video on TikTok showed hundreds of fans lining up at a store to claim their gift.
A day later, the Vienna Tourist Board revealed that ‘due to overwhelming demand’ that the store did run out of the necklaces.
The hitmaker has not made any public statements since the alleged plot was uncovered.
The arrest of a third suspect was announced on Friday.
The teen, like the two others arrested earlier, was reportedly radicalized by the Afghanistan-based ISIS-K.
Police say the main suspect, a 19-year-old man, planned to attack the tens of thousands of Swifties who gathered outside the Ernst Happel Stadium, with knives and machetes.
‘The group is considered the greatest external terrorist threat to the continent,’ claimed UN undersecretary for counterterrorism Vladimir Vorokov, who said the group had increased its recruitment efforts on the continent, according to ABC News.
The disappointment of not being able to see Swift perform did not prevent thousands of fans from taking to the streets to trade friendship bracelets and sing Swift’s songs.
‘When Swifties take all over your street,’ wrote a fan on TikTok showing some of the celebrations.
On Wednesday it was revealed by police that two suspects were arrested for allegedly plotting a terror attack at Taylor’s Vienna shows.
It has since been confirmed that radicalized teens aged 17 and 19 – including an ISIS fanatic – had ‘planned carnage with bomb, knives and vehicle attack on young fans.
Following the thwarted terrorist plot, Taylor’s concert promoter Barracuda Music posted a statement informing fans that her Vienna dates were being called off, leaving tens of thousands disappointed after they had fought to get tickets to the sold-out tour.
‘Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Vienna Shows Cancelled Due to Government Officials Confirmation of Planned Terrorist Attack,’ the post read.
‘With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.
‘All tickets will be automatically refunded within the next 10 business days.’
Shortly after the news broke, it was reported that Taylor was feeling ‘devastated’ at having to cancel the dates.
Taylor’s fans were also left ‘devastated’ by the last-minute cancelation, but have thanked the singer for ‘keeping them safe.’
Swift is scheduled to resume the last leg of the European portion of her Eras tour in London, with increased security, beginning August 15, where she will perform five shows at Wembley Stadium.
