REPORT: Tom Brady Played Major Role In Helping Flip No. 1 QB Recruit Bryce Underwood’s Commitment to Michigan

Looks like Bryce Underwood had some help flipping his commitment.

Tom Brady, who capped his Michigan career in 1999 with a win over Alabama in the Orange Bowl, may not have played for the team in over twenty years, but that doesn’t mean he has stopped trying to ensure the program reaches its ultimate goal.

The biggest news of Michigan’s 2024 season happened off the field. The program was able to land a commitment from quarterback Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 signing class.

It took many months to make this happen as he was originally headed to the LSU Tigers.

Tom Brady reportedly played a role in convincing top quarterback prospect Bryce Underwood to flip his commitment as he had “multiple conversations” with him over the weeks leading up to the quarterback’s Thursday commitment to the Wolverines, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

According to the report, those talks were “one of many factors” that led Underwood to leave LSU. During their conversations, Brady “emphasized that he’d be a resource for Underwood moving forward,” according to Zenitz.

On3’s EJ Hollad reported that last week, the Wolverines presented Underwood with a $10.5 million NIL offer.

Days have certainly changed since the last time Brady was on campus.

The California native arrived in Ann Arbor deep on the depth chart and spent two years as a backup. He emerged as a starter in 1998 and 1999, which helped him become a sixth-round selection by the New England Patriots.

Bryce Underwood Is The Highest-Ranked Commitment To The Program And Has A lot To Live Up To

The No. 1 overall 2025 high school football recruit in the 247Sports Composite will be playing for the Michigan Wolverines.

He has now become the highest-rated recruit in Michigan football history.

With that distinction, he now has to shoulder the responsibility of showing that he was worth all of the trouble recruiting and getting him to flip from LSU.
