The WWE is the most-watched professional wrestling association in the world, and the money the wrestlers make is unlike any other. According to one family, pretending to be one can also be quite fruitful, as one fan found while pretending to be Alexa Bliss.
Alexa Bliss is one of the WWE’s best and brightest. She began her career in 2013 after signing with the developmental brand NXT. Since then, she’s had nearly 400 matches in the WWE, winning 188 of them.
Being a WWE wrestler doesn’t always come with positive headlines, though. Unfortunately, some fans will attempt to do some pretty shady things, and Bliss was the most recent victim of identity theft when a scammer decided to use her name.
According to the New York Times, a 79-year-old man was reportedly scammed into draining his savings account and some of his daughter’s college tuition after believing he had fallen in love with the real Alexa Bliss.
Elderly Man Loses $1 Million To ‘Alexa Bliss’ Scammer
Chris Mancinelli revealed that his father, Alfred, believed he was talking to the real Alexa Bliss and had been since 2021. This all comes after Alfred had begun to “open his heart” to tons of scammers, leading him to take nearly $800k out of his savings.According to Mancinelli, his father believed the stories told by the scammer, which included being humiliated by Vince McMahon after refusing his advances, as well as some hospitalizations due to menstrual periods.
Unfortunately, Alfred passed away earlier this year due to a neck injury. However, Chris did find some solace in the passing, believing that his father would have ended up draining his bank account had he not passed away.
We would like to extend our condolences to the Mancinelli family and hope that whoever decided to scam Alfred gets what the justice system has in store for them.
