A blockbuster trade proposal has the Las Vegas Raiders sending superstar pass-rusher Maxx Crosby to an NFC heavyweight in a move that would make them the new Super Bowl 59 front-runners.
Maxx Crosby hasn’t at all indicated that he wants out of Las Vegas, and team owner Mark Davis emphasized that trading the four-time Pro Bowler isn’t on the table. But the Raiders (2-4) are nowhere close to contention, and the Davante Adams trade with the New York Jets indicates that they’re punting on 2024.
The Raiders may not be actively shopping Crosby, but it just takes one can’t-refuse offer for GM Tom Telesco to change his mind. And a rebuilding team like the Raiders would benefit from a bundle of draft picks for a veteran like Crosby, who should be motivated to play for a contender.
The FanDuel Sportsbook proposed a blockbuster trade idea with Las Vegas sending Maxx Crosby and a 2025 sixth-round pick to the Detroit Lions for 2025 and 2026 first-round picks, a 2026 fourth-rounder and defensive end James Houston.
The Lions have a pressing need at pass rusher after losing superstar Aidan Hutchinson, who required surgery on a fractured tibia and fibula he suffered in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys. Detroit doesn’t know yet if Hutchinson will return this season.
Consider that Alim McNeill is second on the Lions in sacks with 2.5, followed by Levi Onwuzurike (1.5). So yes, a player like Maxx Crosby would go a long way in helping Dan Campbell’s squad reach the franchise’s first Super Bowl.
Over his first five games this season, Crosby has 5.5 sacks and two pass breakups. He posted a career-high 14.5 sacks last season.
Lions Should Go All-In For Maxx Crosby
Maxx Crosby is only 27 and has several prime years left. If the Lions paired him with Hutchinson, they would have the NFL’s top pass-rushing duo for the next half-decade.
Adding Crosby would make the Lions the Super Bowl front-runners over Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Without a doubt, this is a move the Lions have to try and make if the Raiders would at least consider a deal.
