He said that national assets were destroyed and the martyrs’ monuments were dishonoured on that dark day
ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday asked that if during the time of former prime minister Imran Khan trials could be conducted in military courts, why can’t they be conducted now?
Responding to the question of prosecuting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder in military courts in Geo News programme ‘Capital Talk’, Khawaja Asif said that Imran Khan was the mastermind of the May 9 coup as the plan was made by him. Why can’t the case go on in the military courts? He said that national assets were destroyed and the martyrs’ monuments were dishonoured on that dark day.

He said that there is no possibility of improvement in Imran’s relations with the establishment even on the offer of conditional apology by the PTI founder, adding that Imran should understand that the May 9 incident was a rebellion against the state.
On the question of whether the government’s stance on May 9 got failed, the defence minister said that time would decide about that.
