Shannon Sharpe has been dragged online after insulting a fan who’s presumably Black while defending Caitlin Clark.
The ESPN analyst was recently criticized for remaining quiet with respect to the abuse other WNBA players have been receiving while staying vocal when Clark is the topic of discussion.
This came in response to a clip of him speaking about the Fever rookie being “kept in her place” and not getting the credit she deserves.
“My issue is @ShannonSharpe never speaks on the disrespect the rest of the women of the W experienced,” a fan wrote in a tweet. “Always defending Caitlin.
“The WNBA disrespect didn’t START with Caitlin, they’ve been disrespected for YEARS. Caitlin’s buzz made that hate way worse and people who tried to have the other women’s backs got called “haters” by people like Shannon/SAS who wanted us to be thankful for ratings boosts.”
“That’s your issue not mine,” Sharpe replied. “I have no issue with anything I’ve said in regards 2 WNBA and its players past or present.”
“oh i’m sure you don’t,” another fan said.
Sharpe proceeded to hurl an insult at the user, suggesting her hair wasn’t natural. Funny enough, the fan was using a photo of Megan Thee Stallion as her display pic.
“Why are you one [sic] my page?” he fired. “Don’t you have another horse 2 rob of his hair? Stop trying 2 kill my vibe.”

Sharpe later tweeted that he would no longer be responding to negativity on social media.
“Sept 25 2024 at 6:06 pm. I will no longer respond 2 any negativity. It’s not the serious 4 me,” he wrote. “I’ve got kids and I would upset with them [sic] IF* they responded in this manner. This is beneath me. Y’all pray 4 me tho.”
