The NFL trade deadline is set for 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 5. While that seems far off, it’s never too early to dive into the latest buzz, potential trade candidates, and where they might land. We’re just two weeks into the 2024 season, so keep in mind, it’s still pretty early. It’s tough to say which teams will be buyers or sellers in November. That makes this a fun, speculative exercise—let’s take a shot at identifying players who might be on the move and the teams that could scoop them up.Although coaches and players are focused on preparing for the next game every week, but as fans, we get to daydream about what the league could look like in a month or so. So, here’s our way-too-early look at 15 players who might be traded, along with some potential landing spots. Let’s kick things off with the defensive side of the ball!
NFL Trade Deadline Hype: Players to Watch
EDGE RUSHER
Haason Reddick, New York Jets
Let’s kick things off with a notable contract dilemma. The Jets traded for Reddick from the Eagles back in April for a 2026 third-round pick. However, he has yet to step onto the field for New York, missing practices and games, which has racked up millions in fines. Reddick wanted a new deal with the Eagles, who chose to trade him rather than meet his demands.
Unfortunately for the Jets, they still haven’t sorted out a contract extension, and with Jermaine Johnson’s season-ending Achilles injury, they need to find a solution fast. Reddick requested a trade this summer, but the Jets initially shot that down. They might have to choose between giving him a deal or trading him to grab an impactful player on the edge.
Potential landing spot: The Arizona Cardinals. They originally drafted Reddick in the first round back in 2017, and although the front office and coaching staff have changed, they need help on defense. Currently, the Cardinals sit 28th in pass rush win rate at 28.9%. Other teams to watch for Reddick include the Buccaneers, 49ers, and Bears.
Azeez Ojulari, New York Giants
Ojulari, a second-round pick in 2021, made a mark in his rookie year with eight sacks. But with the Giants revamping their pass rush around Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns, Ojulari’s role has diminished. He’s in the final year of his contract, making just $1.58 million, and could shine in a more prominent role elsewhere before hitting free agency.Potential landing spot: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As three-time defending division champs, they could use extra firepower on the edge, especially since they’re tied for the fewest sacks in the league with just two. The Raiders, 49ers, Bears, and Cardinals could also be in the mix for Ojulari.
DEFENSIVE TACKLE
D.J. Jones, Denver Broncos
Jones signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Broncos before the 2022 season, and he’s now in the final year, making $10 million. The Broncos’ struggles this season could lead to a sell-off, especially since Jones predates coach Sean Payton. At 30, he might not be in line for a long-term deal with a new team, but he could be a solid half-season rental for a contender.
Potential landing spot: The Chicago Bears. Matt Eberflus values depth on the defensive line, and Jones could fit right in. Other candidates include the 49ers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Bengals.
Devin White, Philadelphia Eagles
The former Buccaneers star signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Eagles this offseason but lost his starting middle linebacker position to Nakobe Dean. After missing the first game due to an ankle injury, he was a healthy scratch in Week 2. With over half of his contract as a signing bonus, White could be an affordable veteran option for a team in need.
Potential landing spot: The Buffalo Bills. With Matt Milano and Terrel Bernard’s injuries, Buffalo could benefit from adding White for some veteran experience. The Raiders and Patriots might also be interested.
E.J. Speed, Indianapolis Colts
Speed’s rise in the Colts’ ranks contributed to the decision to move on from Shaquille Leonard last season. He’s set to be a free agent after this year, and if the Colts fall out of contention, he could be on the move. Speed is worth watching, with 22 tackles this season and a history of triple-digit tackles.
Potential landing spot: The New England Patriots. With Ja’Whaun Bentley on injured reserve, adding Speed makes sense. The Bills and Raiders could also be options
DEFENSIVE BACKS
Budda Baker, Arizona Cardinals
Baker is unsigned beyond this season and could significantly impact any team needing safety help. With 18 tackles and three tackles for loss in two games, he’s making his mark. The Cardinals would need to be out of contention to consider trading him, especially with his $14.2 million salary.
Potential landing spot: The Philadelphia Eagles. They’re always looking for upgrades in the secondary and have a history of making big moves at the trade deadline. The Jets and Browns could also be in play if Baker becomes available.
Jonathan Jones, New England Patriots
The Patriots have shown more competitiveness than expected, but Jones could become a target for teams needing a cornerback if they falter. He’s had 11 tackles this season and previously posted four interceptions in a single season.
Potential landing spot: The Atlanta Falcons. They could use an upgrade alongside A.J. Terrell. The Chiefs, Ravens, and Steelers would likely be interested as well.
QUARTERBACK
It’s uncommon to see quarterbacks traded midseason, especially for instant impact. Most trades involve teams looking for longer-term solutions.
Zach Wilson, Denver Broncos
Wilson, the second overall pick in 2021, is now on a cheap deal and has been learning under coach Sean Payton. Currently, he’s third on the depth chart, but he could appeal to teams seeking a developmental prospect. Although his QBR has been low at 33.9 since 2021, he has 33 career starts.
Potential landing spot: The Los Angeles Rams. With questions surrounding Stafford’s health, Wilson could fit in as a high-ceiling developmental QB. Other possibilities include the Dolphins, Steelers, Panthers, and Titans.
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
Young was recently benched for Andy Dalton, but the Panthers claim they won’t trade him. However, if they can’t get him back on track, other teams might be interested in the first overall pick from 17 months ago. His current salary is low, but the next two years are fully guaranteed.
Potential landing spot: The Miami Dolphins. If Tua Tagovailoa’s situation raises concerns, coach Mike McDaniel might see Young as a fit for his offense. The Jets, Rams, and Seahawks could also be in play.
Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers
Wilson’s injury puts him in a tricky situation. If he can’t return, there’s a chance the Steelers could move him to a team needing a QB. Although he has a no-trade clause, a desperate team might spark interest.
Potential landing spot: The Miami Dolphins. If Tagovailoa can’t return, they might look to add a QB like Wilson. The Raiders could also consider him if a starter gets injured.
WIDE RECEIVER
Diontae Johnson, Carolina Panthers
Johnson, traded to the Panthers this offseason, is in the final year of his contract, making just $7 million. If he clicks with Dalton, he could be a valuable asset at the deadline.
Potential landing spot: The New England Patriots. With a thin receiving corps, they might be interested in Johnson, who could provide a much-needed boost. Other teams like the Rams, Chiefs, Commanders, and Cowboys could also be in the mix.
Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders
Although Adams hasn’t requested a trade, speculation continues. If the Raiders struggle, he could become a target for contenders. His contract includes a $16.89 million cap hit, but he’d cost only half of that for a trading team.

RUNNING BACK
Miles Sanders, Carolina Panthers
Carolina looks poised to be in sell mode, especially with Sanders underperforming this season. If he can’t find his groove, he might be expendable once rookie Jonathon Brooks is healthy.
Potential landing spot: The Dallas Cowboys. They could use a boost in the run game, ranking 26th in yards per rush. The Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns might also be interested in Sanders.
Devin Singletary, New York Giants
Singletary has shown promise under Brian Daboll but may find himself on the trade block if the Giants opt for a younger player in Tyrone Tracy Jr. He carries a salary of $4.75 million for next year, making him a more complex target.
