Ant & Dec win Best Presenters at NTAs for record 23rd year in a row

The iconic Geordie duo came away with the award for the 23rd time, breaking their own record

Ant & Dec have done it again, as the dynamic duo scooped the Best Presenters award at the National Television Awards for the 23rd year running.

They were up against the likes of Alison Hammond (This Morning), Bradley Walsh (The Chase), Claudia Winkleman (The Traitors) and Stacey Solomon (Sort Your Life Out).

The Geordie duo rose to fame in the 1990s on BBC drama Byker Grove, and became a presenting powerhouse in the 2000s on TV shows such as Pop Idol, Britain’s Got Talent and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! to name a few.

Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly recently announced a break on their iconic show Saturday Night Takeaway after completing a 20th season earlier this year, which fans hope isn’t the final iteration of the ITV show.

The pair have won the Best Presenter award at the NTAs every year since 2001, meaning that their period of dominance stretches beyond two decades.

It is an impressive feat that has been highlighted by the Guinness World Record given to them in 2020 as they won the award for the most consecutive times, which was 18, and have now gone on to break their own record five more times.

Fans took to X to share how they were (understandably) not surprised at the outcome, as one posted: “Lol may as well call it the Ant & Dec award category.”

Another added: “Nothing makes me happier than everyone being salty about Ant & Dec winning… again.”

A third pointed out: “23 years of Ant & Dec winning Best Presenter/s is incredible.”

A fourth shared: “Ant & Dec have so many fingers in so many pies.”

As well as this nomination, Britain’s Got Talent has been put up for Best Talent Show, while Ant & Dec’s Limitless Win was nominated for Best Quiz Game Show and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway was put forward for The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award.

In total, Ant & Dec have won 45 NTA awards in their careers, with 11 of those being for the Most Popular Entertainment Programme, five for The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, three for the Most Popular Reality Programme, two for Challenge Show and one each for the Special Recognition Award, Most Popular Quiz Programme and Landmark Award.

The show that won them the most awards at 14, is I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

Their early days saw the duo predominantly feature on kids’ TV in programmes such as SMTV and CD:UK, while their short foray into the music industry shouldn’t be forgotten – how could you look past ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble?’

Now, very much focusing on their TV careers, the duo have been part of some different projects in the last few years, such as Ant and Dec’s DNA Journey, where they traced their family roots back and discovered that they are actually distant cousins.

In 2022, they debuted ITV game show Limitless Win, where there is an endless jackpot, and has since been renewed for a fourth season, set to air in 2025.

Though they’re both in their late 40s, it’s fair to say that the presenters are still going strong after more than 30 years on the silver screen.
