Superstar NCAA Quarterback Arrested On Serious Charges, Suspended By Team

The Tulane Green Wave football team has suspended quarterback T.J. Finley following news of his arrest.

According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, Tulane suspended T.J. Finley “indefinitely” after he was arrested in New Orleans for possessing stolen items. Per Rittenberg, the Green Wave said that the length of Finley’s suspension depends on the results of his legal case.

Rittenberg reports that Finley was in possession of a truck that university police investigated for blocking a driveway. Finley told officers that he purchased the truck, reportedly worth over $25,000. After looking into the matter, police discovered that it Tulane’s new truck was reported as stolen.

For what it’s worth, Finley shared an Instagram story with the captions “don’t believe everything you hear” and “I’ll be back.”

T.J. Finley, who turned 23 years of age last week, was a standout quarterback at Ponchatoula High School in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. He committed to the LSU Tigers’ football program and spent one season there before transferring to Auburn. The towering 6-foot-7 quarterback saw limited action in two seasons at Auburn, so he again transferred. Finley went to Texas State and got his first look as a starting quarterback, completing 67.4 percent of pass attempts for 3,439 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Finley transferred yet again, this time to Western Kentucky, in 2024. In three game appearances, he threw for 490 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Finley has only spent one NCAA season as a starting quarterback, and the results were stellar. But there’s also a reason why he’s now on his fifth college football team in just six seasons.

T.J. Finley hasn’t shown enough consistency to garner a long-term starting look at the NCAA level. The Tulane Green Wave football program gives Finley one more chance to increase his stock before he potentially enters the 2026 NFL Draft. Of course, it remains to be seen how long he’ll be suspended.
