James Carville said the collapse came ‘quicker than [he] imagined’
A Democratic strategist who made a prediction about how long it would take for Donald Trump’s administration to ‘collapse’ has claimed the time has now come, and it’s come ‘quicker than [he] imagined’.
James Carville, an infamous, 80-year-old political consultant, shared his earlier prediction about Trump just a few weeks after the Republican returned to the White House on January 20.
Carville shared his thoughts in an interview with Mediaite’s Dan Abrams, suggesting the downfall of the POTUS would come as a result of plummeting approval numbers sparked by the dismissal of thousands of government officials, and a number of controversial executive orders.

In the interview, which took place shortly after Trump marked one month back in office, Carville referred to a poll that suggested Trump’s approval ratings dropped from the low 50s to the upper 30s, and went on to say it would take ‘less than 30 days’ for the administration to crumble, particularly ‘in public opinion’.
“Democrats need to play possum,” he said. “This whole thing is collapsing.”
Fast forward just one month, and Carville has now said that collapse has taken place.

Noting that he previously also said the ‘collapse’ would happen by Memorial Day on May 26, Carville added: “It’s before April Fool’s Day – which the Trump administration should make a national holiday because it so accurately represents who they are.”
He continued: “We look at what’s happening in the markets, we look at what’s happening on Signal-gate, we look what’s happening all the way around us […] I think the thing is collapsed.”
Though Carville clearly made his own opinions known, he added: “Let’s take the middle ground here and say ‘it’s collapsing’ – I’ll meet you half way, but that’s about all I can do.”
After being asked about figures which suggest Trump is ‘more popular’ now than when he was voted into office for the second time, Carville said: “It doesn’t matter what the party rating is, what matters are elections.”
Carville went on to claim the US was looking at ‘buffoons running the country’, adding: “Again, I thought I’d have to wait longer for the collapse, it happened even faster than I could imagine.”
