Michael Wilhoite might never see himself back in the NFL, as wild new details have emerged about the Denver Broncos linebacker coach’s arrest.
Broncos outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite was arrested in Denver on Sunday on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.
He was booked on a second-degree charge of assaulting a peace officer and had a scheduled court appearance Monday morning.
Court documents obtained by The Denver Post now paint a grizzly picture of what happened.
Wilhoite is accused of hitting a police officer in the face with a left hook. He would then be tased before driving away from the drop-off lane at Denver International Airport.“According to probable cause statement, Wilhoite twice told the police officer to ‘shut the (bleep) up,’ then punched officer, then was tased before driving off,” 9NEWS’ Mike Klis reported.
The 38-year-old is facing a felony assault charge.
He appeared in Denver County Court on Monday and was advised of his charges. Denver Magistrate Arnie Beckman set Wilhoite’s bail at $500.
Michael Wilhoite posted bail and was later released.

Broncos linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite is in some serious trouble after he was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault of a police officer after an altercation in the departure area of Denver International Airport Sunday.
The officer had “visible injuries” on his knees and jaw pain after the alleged altercation.
Wilhoite has since been bailed out.
The only question that remains is whether he will keep his job.
The Broncos would release a statement on the incident:
“We are aware of a situation involving Michael Wilhoite that occurred Sunday and are in the process of gathering more information,” the club told 9NEWS.
Wilhoite just finished his second season with the Broncos in 2024. He previously worked as a special teams assistant with Denver coach Sean Payton on the New Orleans Saints’ staff.
Before heading into coaching, he played six years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
