It has happened once again after a Learjet crashed into a larger parked plane this week.
One person is dead, and four others were injured after a Bombardier Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing at Scottsdale Airport and crashed into a Gulfstream 200 business jet that was parked on private property, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Airport officials say it appears the left main landing gear failed as it was landing.
“According to initial reports, the Learjet’s left main landing gear failed upon landing, leading to the collision,” the City of Scottsdale said in a statement.
Officials closed the runway for hours as crews worked on those involved in the wreckage of the Learjet and plane. One person was dead on the scene, while two others were taken to local trauma centers in critical condition. A final person was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
This collision comes after a series of aviation disasters across the country in recent weeks.
In January, a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines jet collided, and all 67 people involved were killed.
Not too long afterward, seven people were killed after a plane crashed near a shopping center in Philadelphia.
The Learjet 35A Is Owned B Vince Neil of The Band Mötley Crüe
One person was killed, and at least three others were injured in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a jet owned by Vince Neil of the band Mötley Crüe crashed into another plane as it landed. It is unknown if Neil was on the plane at the time of the accident.
The plane had taken off from Austin, Texas, and its left main gear failed when it landed.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the situation.
