American Airlines Flight 5342, carrying 64 people, collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter.

There were three Army soldiers in the helicopter.

The passenger jet and a Black Hawk helicopter collided in midair Wednesday and crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C.

There are no survivors.

We are now seeing new non-grainy footage that actually shows the moment the passenger plane and helicopter collided, but it also shows the plane heading straight for the icy river below.

American Eagle Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, and the Black Hawk helicopter, carrying three people, did not have a single survivor.

That is multiple devastated families who now have to navigate this unexpected and tragic time in their lives.

The NTSB Has Not Stated the Cause of the Crash Involving American Airlines Flight 5342

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident between the American Eagle Flight 5342 and the Black Hawk helicopter.

The agency said it will conduct a thorough and accurate investigation of the incident and provide a preliminary report within 30 days.

“We will not be determining the probable cause of the accident while we are here on scene, nor will we speculate about what may have caused this accident,” J. Todd Inman, a member of the NTSB, said Thursday.
