Michael Penix Jr could be the future quarterback in Atlanta, and the Falcons know it. They selected the University of Washington product with their eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The selection of the former Washington Huskie was one of the most surprising draft picks, given that the Falcons had just signed Kirk Cousins to one of the most lucrative free agency contracts during the off-season.
Cousins was expected to be the key difference for the Falcons in the 2024 NFL season. However, he wasn’t what the team wanted. Coming off a complex injury, Cousins threw for just over 3500 yards and 18 touchdowns compared to 16 interceptions.
Due to this subpar performance by the veteran NFL quarterback, Penix would take over in week 16 and be a capable starter in the Falcons’ offense. As a rookie, he threw for over 700 yards and three touchdowns.

Now, Falcons fans are looking forward to a future without Kirk Cousins under center, and of course, Michael Penix Jr. is their next option at the signal-caller spot. With him being the next one up, he has to be prepared.
According to one X user, they think they’ve uncovered a photo that shows Penix doing anything but preparing. Here’s the photo in question:
“Glad to see Penix is taking the off-season seriously,” the X user writes. Fans on social media immediately jumped into the comments, with many taking note of the two drinks and a vape that the dude in the photo is holding with a single hand.
However, it was pointed out (and rightfully so) that the dude in the photo actually looks nothing like the Falcons QB.
The location of the photo was also identified as the Jayhawk Cafe in Lawrence, Kansas, which seems like the last place Penix would find himself.
On top of all this, Michael Penix Jr. has a fiancee, so if it were him, he would definitely have some explaining to do. Thankfully, it looks like there’s enough evidence here to confirm that Penix is NOT spending his offseason at the Hayhawk Cafe, with two drinks and a vape in one hand and a female in the other.
