REPORT: Cause Of Death Revealed For Green Bay Packers Super Bowl Champion Who Was Tragically Found Dead In His Basement

A former Nebraska star who was on a Super Bowl-winning team in the NFL is dead at 54. Calvin Jones, an All-American with the Cornhuskers before playing for the Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders, was reportedly found dead in his basement last week.

Jones, a former running back, rushed for over 3,000 yards in three seasons at Nebraska and was with the Packers when they won the Super Bowl at the end of the 1996 season.

According to the NFL’s official website, his body was found inside the house of a basement in north Oklahoma on Wednesday night. While the authorities haven’t confirmed his cause of death, they believe he was the victim of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The former football player had been using a generator as his heating system was malfunctioning.

An autopsy is pending.
