Washington Commanders Announce Horrific Season-Ending Injury To Star Player That Won’t Help Their Chances Ahead Of NFC Championship Game

The Washington Commanders were on cloud nine after defeating the Detroit Lions on the road to the NFC Championship game. Their high went to an extreme low after a huge loss to the team.

Commanders were triumphant in a 45-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs, but they paid a major toll after guard Sam Cosmi went down with an apparent knee injury on running back Brian Robinson Jr.’s first touchdown run of the game.

Cosmi, who helped protect Jayden Daniels during a Wild Card Round win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is not expected to play again during the postseason after Dan Quinn told reporters Sunday that the guard suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the second-round game.

“He’s been a significant part of what we’re doing, especially in the interior,” Quinn said of Cosmi. “So that’s a big deal. For the ball player and the man.”

The 2021 second-round pick has been instrumental in the Washington Commanders No. 3 rushing offense this season.

The team averaged 5.0 yards per carry and scored 25 rushing touchdowns during a 12-5 campaign.

As the Commanders prepare to compete for a Super Bowl bid this season, they’ll have to do so without their most established offensive lineman.

On Saturday, Trenton Scott replaced Cosmi, and the team finished with 481 total yards, three fourth-down conversations, and touchdowns on all four red-drive appearances.

Washington Commanders Has The Team To Take Down The Eagles Or Rams

Thanks to the Detroit Lions’ stunning loss, the Eagles won’t have to leave home for the NFC championship game if they can get away with beating the Rams.

No. 6 seed Washington Commanders upset the top-seeded Lions, and people are looking at them differently as a team that could make it all the way.

The Eagles are the No. 2 seed and took down Washington in the first game, 26-18, on Nov. 14 at Lincoln Financial Field.

The next matchup went to Washington at Northwest Stadium.

The Rams and Washington last played in 2023, a game Los Angeles won.
