REPORT: Super Bowl Champion Is Suing Hospital Over His Son’s Tragic Death

Former Green Bay Packers linebacker Brady Poppinga is reportedly suing a hospital and several of its doctors following his son’s death.

Poppinga’s son, Julius Poppinga, passed away at the age of 17 last August after he was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at the Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center, and his dad reckons they’re responsible.

According to TMZ, the Super Bowl winner filed a suit in Los Angeles this week, accusing doctors of failing to provide the requisite care for Julius after he was taken in for chest pains and breathing problems.

The teenager’s condition did not improve, and he eventually succumbed.

“The ex-NFLer filed the suit in Los Angeles this week … alleging multiple physicians at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center did not properly care for Julius Poppinga after the family had admitted the 17-year-old into the facility’s ICU,” the outlet reports. “In the suit, Brady and his wife, Brooke, say they brought in their boy on Aug. 27, 2023 with chest pains and breathing issues … but despite ’round-the-clock attention from docs, he didn’t get better.”

Brady Poppinga And His Wife Believe Negligence On The Part Of The Medical Professionals Contributed To Their Son’s Death

The lawsuit notes that Julius was in and out of consciousness while struggling to breathe and was afraid he was going to die.

Brady and Brook claim a nearby doctor “negligently and wrongfully concluded” that their son was having a panic attack and prescribed medication for it. He is said to have passed away shortly after.

An autopsy determined that Julius died as the result of a pulmonary embolism.

Brady and his wife are suing the facility for wrongful death due to medical negligence, among other allegations, and are seeking unspecified damages.
